Club Events, Initiatives, and Activities

2025

  • MMP received $43,000 from Pat Savolt’s Trust fund and established the Pat Savolt Memorial Fund to support activities aligned with her vision and the Club’s Pickleball mission.

  • Re-initiated and funded ($2025) the rental of St John’s Community Center for free evening pickleball play from December 2024 to March 31, 2025.

  • MARC courts contract and continued rental of additional courts for MMP player play for $10,000.

  • MMP Pickleball continued support the Maine State prison (men’s) pickleball program. This includes drill clinics, in-house tournaments, and frequent Pickleball Challenge events with MMP visiting players.

  • MMP Pickleball has formed an initiative to teach Pickleball at the Maine state prison (women).

  • MMP signed two contracts for the Maine Tennis and Track to refurbish and repaint Pegasus and Neptune courts beginning in the spring of 2026.

  • Pegasus Courts volunteer court maintenance and repainting

  • Neptune Courts volunteer court maintenance and repainting

  • MMP donated $700 to volunteer Pickleball players to paint a new Pickleball Court in Dresden, Maine

  • MMP partnered with the Brunswick Recreation Department to co-sponsor three Kids Pickleball camps over the course of the summer. Over 60 children learned to play Pickleball in the four-day camp run by MMP volunteers and funded through the Pat Savolt Memorial Foundation.

  • MMP has sponsored a monthly Happy Hour (first Tuesday of the month) for players at the Flight Deck Brewery. This initiative continues the Club’s commitment to community and socialization, which are two fundamental principles of our club’s mission.

  • MMP, through its dedicated volunteers, successfully completed a November food drive for the Midcoast Community Hunger Prevention Program (MCHPP). The total donations from Pickleball players exceeded 1,216 pounds of food over a three-day collection period.

  • MMP sponsored/donated $500 to the NAMI New Year’s Day tournament and Fundraiser. This is a major fundraising event in which many of our club members volunteer and support.

2024

  • St John’s Community Center initiative for free MMP Club play Tuesday night and Sunday afternoons in their new Community Center gym January 1st- March 30th, 2024

  • Agreement with the Brunswick Rec Center to rent four courts in the morning and four courts in the afternoon at the new MARC Pickleball complex. Cost $9,120 from June 23rd-Nov 1st

  • Grand Opening June 22nd for the MARC Pickleball complex

  • Pegasus and Neptune court crack repair (volunteers)

  • Pegasus court re-painting (volunteers)

  • MMP establish Maine State Prison inmate pickleball training program (once a month instructing 20 Prisoners Feb-Dec 2024)

  • MMP purchase and donate 20 Diadem Warrior Edge paddles to Maine State Prison Pickleball program to support their new Pickleball Club

  • MMP team to visit and play inmates for the first time in Maine Prison history (scheduled Dec 3rd 2024)

  • Summer Pickleball Ladder play

  • Summer Pickleball drill sessions

  • Sponsored beginner and intermediate Pickleball lessons at Pegasus and Neptune courts

  • Sponsored discounted beginner paddle purchases to support beginner players

  • Sponsored stand up of a Pickleball Club at Brunswick High School

2023

  • Provided design guidance for new MARC Brunswick eight pickleball complex

  • $20,000 fundraising goal that was met within two months to support new courts ($5000 donated in 2022)

  • MMP players successfully lobby for final build approval of MARC Pickleball courts included in phase 1A of masterplan

  • Pegasus and Neptune court crack repair (volunteers)

  • Pegasus court re-painting (volunteers)

  • MMP paddle demo program with brand discount codes

  • MMP tee shirt and logo accessory contract with Pikelball.com
